“Acquiring artwork is like having children…
in terms of the budget, there never really is a “good” time
but art is something you get to enjoy every day for the rest of your life.”
The sign, posted at Creative Genius Gallery in Medford, New Jersey, caught my attention. It is so true. A painting hanging in the home, especially if it is an original painting, becomes a familiar part of life. Children grow up with it, memories are bound up with the selection and although the sofa and decor may change, chances are that the well loved painting will be cherished for decades, even generations.
If you stop by Creative Genius Gallery you will see ‘Cherry and Chickadee’ one of the new spring paintings new to the display. If you are interested in this watercolor painting (16×20 framed $350) and are out of the area, contact Julie at Creative Genius.

“Woodland Spring”

This painting is unlike anything I have done before. While exploring the forest in April I drew and painted many of the wildflowers, birds and butterflies that I found. This painting includes violets and ferns, jack-in-the-pulpits and anemones, partridge berries and blueberries as well as wild orchids; flowering Lady Slippers and the leaves of the summer-flowering Cranefly Orchids. There is a squirrel and birds, deermouse and toad, butterflies and even a snail.
