Paintings by Sharon Himes celebrate the natural world with timeless images of wildflowers, country scenes and familiar birds. A serious naturalist, much of her art reflects observation of flora and fauna in the Pocomoke Forest near her home on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Her paintings of wildflowers, shy birds, colorful mushrooms and other woodland treasures have been widely collected for over 30 years.

New Greeting Cards

Sharon August 19th, 2010

2167thanks3For several years I have been creating greeting cards from my paintings and designs. Recently, while taking a break from painting, I designed a collection of Thanksgiving and other greeting cards that are now available from Greeting Card Universe.

Usually I begin with a painting and using the Photoshop program, I layer parts of the painting with other elements to create a unique design. autumn1

These are greeting cards you will not find in your neighborhood card shop.   Your friends and family are not likely to receive the same card from anyone else.

I have designed a variety of cards for Greeting Card Universe, including blank note cards, Thank you, Birthday and Sympathy cards.   While some have inside text, all can be personalized on the site.

New card designs are being added weekly and I have a growing collection of holiday, seasonal and Christmas cards.   Stop by soon to see them all!

Aquiring Art

Sharon June 19th, 2010

“Acquiring artwork is like having children…
in terms of the budget, there never really is a “good” time
but art is something you get to enjoy every day for the rest of your life.”

The sign, posted at Creative Genius Gallery in Medford, New Jersey, caught my attention. It is so true. A painting hanging in the home, especially if it is an original painting, becomes a familiar part of life. Children grow up with it, memories are bound up with the selection and although the sofa and decor may change, chances are that the well loved painting will be cherished for decades, even generations.

If you stop by Creative Genius Gallery you will see ‘Cherry and Chickadee’ one of the new spring paintings new to the display. If you are interested in this watercolor painting (16×20 framed $350) and are out of the area, contact Julie at Creative Genius.
